Trans Am Bandit Edition – From Atlanta to Texarkana

Trans Am

Like Smokey’s boss in the Bandit movie, someone (topgear) had the idea of traveling in a Pontiac Trans Am from Atlanta, Georgia to Texarkana, Texas. And all that in 28 hours (again, the same like in the movie), but this time, without the $80,000 prize. This doesn’t look like a tough bite, but let’s remember that Smokey had to pick up a runaway bride in that time limit.

The name of Trans Am

Although Pontiac is no longer in existence, there is a team Trans Am Worldwide, who is the new owner of the name of Trans Am. They did a remarkable job by converting a Chevy Camaro SS into the new (not) Pontiac Trans Am.

Specs of the New Beast

This Bandit edition even has some serious T-top panels, it is painted in black and golden patterns with a 7.4-litre V8 engine that can deliver 717 horsepower and 835 lb ft of torque! It has leather upholstery and a modern infotainment system.

The Story and the Outcome

You should really check the link provided to read the full story about this trip, as it seems to be hell of an adventure. We can all say it was harder back in days to accomplish this achievement but check the traffic these days. Check those busy streets and crowded public roads. It will not be that easy, I tell you. The newer model has a cruise control, lower consumption and driving assistance, unlike the old 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, so it should be physically easier for the driver. Rain on the road, fans and Porsche 911 owners who would like to race did not made a big distraction, though. To see the final outcome, please check the link above. If not, I will need to say a number. It will be between 31 and 32. Add the word “hours” after the number and thank you for reading.
