It was a long time ago when the last model has been shown, so 2021 Nissan Silvia S16 comes at the right moment. Do not forget that the last version of the model, called S15 was released in 2002, so it is about a time to see something new in this class.
When it comes to the class, the manufacturer has already updated (more than once) other sports models, like Nissan 370Z and Nissan GT-R. We started to believe that Silvia will go to history after the current version becomes boring and out of date. Luckily, that has not happened, and after the Tokyo Auto Show in 2017 we were able to see a prototype of the model.
- The model is modernized and made of lightweight materials.
- There is a new, more economical, engine.
- There are no many expected changes in design.
- The model is still not finalized, so many questions are opened.
The model is not fully redesigned from the last version, but 2021 Nissan Silvia S16 is still very attractive and modern. The manufacturer has decided to keep the recognizable shape of the car, especially sports models that they make, with new details and additions. The front end has V-shape grille with new LED front lights and wide bumper and LED S sing on the nose of the bumper.
The rear end is more sedan-like, although this should be a two-door coupe, with modernized taillights and the new shape of the bumper. The manufacturer has changed the materials so the model is mostly made of aluminum, for more speed and better handling.
You will see similarities inside of 2021 Nissan Silvia S16 with GT-R and it will not be a mistake. The manufacturer has decided to offer a sports version of the great vehicle, with 2+2 sitting option and small but functional front space of the cabin. To be even more attractive, they wrapped the cabin in Alcantara and brown leather, with chromatic ascents. When it comes to technology, there are great high-tech toys like on other Nissan models.
This time the manufacturer has chosen a slightly stronger engine for 2021 Nissan Silvia S16, but more economical than models before. It means that current 1.8-liter petrol unit becomes supported by the 2.0-liter petrol model so buyers will be able to choose between good and economical, but strong petrol engines according to their needs.
On that way, from 175 horsepower that base model produces the strength could increase to 275 horsepower or even 300 horsepower with a larger engine. Something similar has been used on Infinity QX crossover. There are high chances that one of those engines become a hybrid shortly. Finally, the manufacturer announced that S16 could be a rear-wheel driving model.
2021 Nissan Silvia S16 Release Date and Price
Although the price of $35,000 for 2021 Nissan Silvia S16 points at the same models in the class, like 370Z, it is for sure that the model will have special types of buyers. 370Z should be one of those small and sportier cars for younger buyers, while S16 will be for older and classy buyers, with greater performances and design and surely for a higher class of the buyers. Releasing date could be at the end of this year if everything goes right.
