Toyota has been one of the most popular brands in the US when it comes to small and large pickup trucks. The company has obviously been preparing a lot of novelties for the year 2020 and the recently speculated 2020 Toyota Tundra could also be one of them. Namely, a rumor has it that we might expect a complete redesign of the popular Tundra in two years time.
- new platform,
- great off-road performance,
- more than one V8 option,
- a new transmission
- diesel engine not confirmed ,
- not officially confirmed yet.
Little is known about the 2020 Toyota Tundra at the moment, but the fans of such powerful off-roaders have been truly impatient to find out what this full-size pickup truck will bring this time. According to some recent unofficial information, the upcoming Tundra might be getting a brand-new platform, probably shared with the Land Cruiser model. It has also been speculated that this popular truck could also get a fully boxed steel frame. Be that as it may, the new Tundra is expected to improve its suspension system and increase its towing capacity, which will only boost its already powerful off-road performance. When it comes to innovations, the Tundra might also bring back its single cab configuration, but these are all mere guesses at this point. All in all, this redesigned truck is expected to appear more aggressive with its Camry-inspired front end and lots of updated features.
The interior of the 2020 Toyota Tundra should also show some innovative design and improved features. It will provide a spacious cabin, but it won’t be as comfortable as its competitors Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Silverado. A rumor has it that bucket seats and a brand-new steering wheel might be expected as well. Also, since most of its rivals offer some quite luxurious features and upscale options such as panoramic sunroof and massaging seats, the company should pay special attention and upgrade at least those higher trim levels. The latest update of this truck was seen in 2018 when it got Toyota Safety Sense package as standard. The 2020 model should keep it and include autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera, lane keep assist and others.
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the 2020 Toyota Tundra should offer more than one V8 engine choice under its hood. If you are looking for some fuel-efficiency, its rivals Ranger and Silverado might be a better choice than Tundra. Also, it hasn’t been clear yet whether Tundra is going to keep its 4.6-liter V8 option. Others could come with either a 5.0-liter V8 that has been found in some Lexus model where it hits 394 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque or a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The rumors are that there will probably be new 2020 Tundra Diesel but, at this moment it is just a rumor, and not officially confirmed. Also, the upcoming Tundra will probably get a brand-new eight or ten-speed automatic transmission instead of the current six-speed.
