2020 Toyota Supra comes as a race car, with the commercial usage. It is actually a replacement for the last years models like GT86 and Scion. However, the new Supra comes as the final version of the long trying and designing that manufacturer invested in the past few years. The first option has been clued in 2012, when Toyota made a partnership with the BMW, saying that they could share the race design of the cars. The first version of this model was seen on Auto Show in Geneva 2018.
- The car has an impressive strong engine.
- Design of the car is modernized and sportier.
- The engine of the car is stronger but not much economical.
- The starting price is a little bit high
The design of the 2020 Toyota Supra is not clearly showed since the first model we saw was protected with the thick layer of the camouflage. However, we are sure that there was a front end similar to Toyota’s sports cars, with a touch of BMW’s double gridded grille. The car is lowered and has additional protection on the bottom, with the wide air intake on it. The rear end is rounded, but impressive and obviously has highly positioned spoiler on the trunk door. The platform is shared with the BMW’s sports cars.
The changes in the design of the 2020 Toyota Supra are made in order to provide the sportiest and more efficient vehicle. Wider and doubled air intake on the front end allows more clear air through with function of cooling the engine in higher speeds. Supra will not be one of those small sporty cars since the cabin is enlarged by two bumps on the sides of the roof that leave the space in the middle for the aerodynamical passing of the air through it. We are used on spoilers on the sporty cars, but this time Supra has functional and small, also attractive thin addition on the trunk door which allows stability but also has an aesthetical function. If you are willing to change the basic model you will be able to choose between five trim versions, including Limited version that will be made in only 1500 units. Speaking about the limitations, there will be organized an auction for the first models while earnings go to the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
The manufacturer has not said much about the cabin of 2020 Toyota Supra, clearly meaning that it is the part of the car that should be finished. However, we are sure that this size car, particularly with the usage that it is named should have a good safety system, and comfortable and adjustable seats. The manufacturer will say more after the car is on the market.
Not only that the special shape of the windshield provides better visibility, but the manufacturer provided technology that allows controlling on the highest speed at a glance. However, the cabin is comfortable and gently shaped that rear end has a sloped roof leaving more space for the front end.
There are two optional engines in 2020 Toyota Supra. One version is the 3.0-liter petrol unit with 325 horsepower of strength. The second one is shared with the BMW Z4, 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit with 262 horsepower of strength. The manufacturer announced that this size of the car should have a naturally aspirated version, too. Both engines will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car should have a rear-wheel driving system and 50:50 weight distribution, with a lowered center of gravity than on Toyota 86.
You may feel new 2020 Toyota Supra as a racing car and you will not be much wrong. Toyota’s passion for making sporty race cars has been improved during the years, making the Supra much stronger and faster sporty car as we used to see. That is why they used the same Toyota Gazoo technology, that brought many victories, from World Rally Championship to 24 Le Man Cars race. So, do not be surprised with the amazing 3.0-liter petrol unit that is under the hood of the car, with controlling functions millimetric precise for stable and safety control on higher speed. The new weight distribution of 50:50 and 335 horsepower of strength provides the speed of 4.1 seconds of increasing time. Do not worry about safety, thus. There is new technology in Brembo brakes and completely new safety system.
We are honestly happy after seeing wider and doubled air intake on the front end. For sporty cars fans, it means more clear air through with function of cooling the engine in higher speeds. Supra is absolutely not one of those small sporty cars since the cabin is enlarged by two bumps on the sides of the roof that leave the space in the middle for the aerodynamical passing of the air through it. The cabin is comfortable and gently shaped that rear end has a sloped roof leaving more space for the front end.
We are used on spoilers on the sporty cars, but this time Supra has functional and small, also attractive thin addition on the trunk door which allows stability but also has an aesthetical function. The new model is lowered, but prettier, providing curved chubby shape or classic racing sporty car. On the other hand, the rear end is more sedan-like while only small trapezoidal spoiler reminds on the sporty driven car.
2020 Toyota Supra Release Date and Price
Even though the manufacturer has not clearly said when to expect 2020 Toyota Supra and there are few more things that are not known yet, we are sure that it will be on the market at the beginning of the next year. However, the price could be much higher than on current race car, meaning higher than $50,000. There should be offered another version of it, a clear racing car, with redesigned front and rear end, spoiler on the trunk door and addition on the bottom of the front end.
