The near future, or the year 2020, is bringing us the new member of the next-generation all-electric cars. It will be the new Mercedes Benz EQ SUV which was first revealed as a concept at the Paris Motor Show last year.
When it comes to exterior of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQ SUV, we can say that future is here. The concept revealed that we should not expect the classic and well-familiar Mercedes features. Everything will be more modern and extremely futuristic. For example, the flat grille with a black panel and the blue exterior ambient lighting are just some of the details announced. However, it may not be possible for this concept to present a real production car. It has been said that the new EQ SUV will likely keep the horizontal chrome slats on the grille and look more traditional. Also, this model will probably retain the door handles and mirrors. But you can certainly expect that the thin headlights and redesigned taillights will be using the latest LED technology. The new EQ will be standing on 20-inch wheels.
The concept of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQ SUV revealed the interior that resembles a space ship to a certain extent. Whether it will be so or not, we should not wait long and see. The production version will, of course, offer a luxurious and ultimately futuristic cabin. There will be several touch screens with the latest infotainment system, leather steering wheel, digital instrument cluster and perhaps the Mercedes will introduce the ‘floating screen’. The aim is to reduce the buttons and knobs. You should also hope for an attractive ambient lighting, the top-quality leather, aluminum and wood and the heated seats that will have a massage option and be electrically adjustable. The new EQ will provide the navigation system, the 3D sound coming from Burmester sound system, voice recognition, Bluetooth smart phone connectivity and the Wi-Fi hotspot. Also, in terms of safety, the features such as adaptive cruise control, street sign recognition, automatic braking and lane-keep assist will not be left out, too.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQ SUV will probably use the lithium-ion battery pack with more than 70 kWh. It will be connected to two electric motors that will make 402 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque together. The EQ will need less than 5 seconds to go 0-62 mph and it will be based on electric all-wheel-drive system.
2020 Mercedes-Benz EQ SUV Price and Release Date
The final version of this concept that will reveal the features of the planned production model is probably going to happen at the 2018 Paris Motor Show while the release date will probably be in 2019. The price of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQ SUV is likely to start around $ 40,000 or $ 45,000.
