2020 Hyundai Sonata

It is obvious that the manufacturer has great plans with 2020 Hyundai Sonata for the years to come. As we were able to see, it will be fully redesigned model, with many improvements and changes, but mostly in term of the engine. Design should not be much different from the models in class, which are mostly short, rounded and modernly sculpted.

  • The model is fully redesigned and modernized.
  • There should be a new hybrid engine under the hood.
  • The cabin is obviously smaller.
  • The price is not known yet.

Calling the design of 2020 Hyundai Sonata “sensuous sportiness” the manufacturer obviously starts a new era in hybrid cars industry. Looking at the photos made on test driving, we have concluded that they will change the platform of the car, with an obviously larger wheelbase. It should also be taken from “Le Fil Rouge” design that we saw in Geneva Auto Show last year. We presume that it is a new design that Hyundai adopted and called DN8 and which we were able to see on prototypes last year. However, even the design of new Sonata that we saw on test driving point at concept model we saw earlier with large duck-tail spoiler and new panels, which some sites called solar panels, on the roof. The overall look and shape of the car are fully changed, this time accepting the toned-down form and short overhangs, along with the redesigned grille. First impressions are that model is closer to Kia Optima Hybrid, which is obviously the main competitor.

Interior

Unfortunately, the new design should decrease the size of the cabin, making it more shell-like and tighter. We are sure that the manufacturer will replace the size of the cabin with great new equipment, that is more appealing to the futuristic car as 2020 Hyundai Sonata aims to be.

Engine

There is contradictory information, like always when new models are on the road, about the engine in 2020 Hyundai Sonata. According to one source, Motor Authority site, we should expect fully petrol engines under the hood, and those are the same as on current Sonata. If that is true, we could see 1.6-liter turbocharged four-in-line petrol engine, along with the 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter also four-in-line turbocharged engines. Even though they claim that rumors drop possible existence of 1.6-liter engine, nothing clearly confirms or deny this information.

However, they do not reject the possibility of a hybrid engine under the hood, but they have not informed about the size and strength of it yet. The answer is possibly offered by another site, who claim that Hyundai is working on a completely new hybrid engine which will be used in Sonata particularly. According to this site, it will be a fully eco-friendly car, with a new improved hybrid & plug-in hybrid engine and higher-powered batteries. Not only that those will be more efficient than Atkinson cycle, but also smoother in driving and with much more extended range.

2020 Hyundai Sonata Release Date and Price

Even though nobody has confirmed the releasing date of 2020 Hyundai Sonata and it is surely still in halls in frame-phase of constructing, we expect and have great reasons for that first showing before the end of 2019. The price is not known yet and could be higher than the price for the current model which is $20,000. Unfortunately, there are rumors that only US markets will get this magnificent changed model, while other markets will get slower and smaller replacement called i45. Do not worry about that, thus. There are rumors that great changes are prepared for years to come in Hyundai. One of the changes will surely be completely new SUV firstly called Grandmaster concept and represented in summer last year.
