Representing a new 2019 Mini Convertible is not that unusual because we have already seen a new Hardtop model last week and those things usually come in a pair. The new Convertible, on the other hand, is coming out only a year after the old one, which is actually unusual, so the only we can conclude is that BMW engineers have made small changes from the last model. Those changes could be seen in the spy photos, bearing in mind that manufacturer has not made an effort to cover it on last test driving, and as we concerned, they are small and only in some details.
As some experts said, like those on motorauthority.com, on 2019 Mini Convertible we should expect the same differences as we saw on previous Cooper and higher version John Cooper Works lately. That means that many things are the same, and those which are not are mostly in details. The front end is slightly changed, there are new front lights, although those are rounded and incorporated in hood line as on the previous model. There is the same trapezoidal gridded grille and small rounded fog lights at the ends of the front bumper. Below it is the wide air intake. The whole front end is like on modern cars, and slightly different from the old models. The rear end is the same egg-like rounded truck door with the vertical rear lights and redesigned details over the license plate and bumper. The soft black roof is made of the quality materials.
According to the experts, we should expect the same 3 or 4 inline engine, but those numbers are not known yet. This engine should be more powerful than the old one and with the more horsepower than before. We can promise that the highest trim version will have 2.0-liter 4-inline 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, as on current John Cooper Works Convertible. There are also rumors that manufacturer has prepared the plug-in hybrid in 2019 Mini Convertible, which is actually expected, knowing that 2017 Mini Cooper SE Countryman has the same engine under the hood. However, that is not confirmed yet we should wait for the debuting date for all information.
2019 Mini Convertible Release Date
Talking about the debuting date, it is supposed to be at the end of the 2018 or at the beginning of 2019, where it will become a new, upgraded model. The price and all other numbers should be known by then.
