After the concept of the popular 2019 Ford Edge made its official debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show for the US market and then at the Geneva Auto Show for Europe, the fans are more than impatient to see it on the roads. Its ST trim level has probably been the most anticipated, especially for its advanced safety technology and a powerful V6 engine under the hood.
When it comes to exterior of the 2019 Ford Edge, no major changes and improvements should be expected. However, this popular mid-size two-row crossover will once again hit the market with its large dimensions and an attractive styling. It will be available in four trim levels – SE, SEL, Titanium and the high-performance ST. The SUV will still be using its platform shared with the Lincoln MKX that will enable lots of space inside the cabin. When we talk about visual refreshments, most of them will probably be found in the front fascia. The fans will notice its redesigned sculpted hood that wears a wider grille and LED headlights with more angular design. Looking at the side profile, the new Edge will stand on standard 18-inch wheels, but larger sets will be offered for higher trim levels. The LED taillights in the back will also wear some stylish and modern design.
Perhaps, the fans should still expect more distinctive updates inside the cabin of the 2019 Ford Edge. Its comfortable and spacious interior will provide two rows of seats with no optional third row. Still, its five passengers will have lots of legroom and headroom, even in the rear seats. In higher trim levels, the front seats will even offer options such as heating and cooling. Besides the overall comfort, you should also expect some important high-tech upgrades so the new Edge will replace its outdated infotainment system with the latest SYNC3. On an 8.0-inch touch-screen the fans will get features such as satellite radio, automatic dual-zone climate control, premium audio system, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The carmaker will also pay special attention to its standard safety systems and driver assist features where the new Edge will include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, a rearview camera and others.
The base engine found under the hood of the 2019 Ford Edge is a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers the output of 245 horsepower. However, the most powerful ST trim level will get a Ford’s 2.7-liter V6 that hits 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and get the all-wheel drive system as standard.
