2019 Audi R8 represents a new the second generation of the model, this time made to follow legislation and high market demands that manufacturers are obligated to follow in past few years. Some of them are lower fuel consumption together with lower CO2 emission and lower taxes that comes after these strong conditions.
- modern design and strong engine.
- too small in comparison with competition.
We were not able to see how final version of 2019 Audi R8 exactly looks like, but we saw spy photos on first test driving, so we have a clue about that. At first glance, it is made for fast driving, considering all changes on the front end and two large exhausts on the sides of the rear end. As is that is not enough, there is mesh line in the middle of the rear end for extra cooling of the engine. All of these is suggesting that new Audi has a strong and powerful engine.
There are many speculations about the engine in new 2019 Audi R8. It is for sure that V8 will not be used in these models anymore, but there is currently used V10 and perhaps V6 together with that. Most of the speculations are about usage of V6 in a car that aims to be a sporty version of the luxury Audi models.
In case that the manufacturer uses V10 engine, it will be as strong as current model 5.2-liter with 536 horsepower and 3.5-seconds of increasing time. The slightly weaker V6 engine could be 2.9-liter with 444 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, which could be offered as a mild-hybrid version.
As the matter of fact, the placing of the V6 engine under the hood is the biggest mystery connected with 2019 Audi R8. The only magazine that denied that is Road&Track, who cited Audi CEO’s statement that they have no reasons to make something like V6 this year. Other trustworthy magazines and sites about cars, like Motoring, have told about decreasing the main engine and combining it with the electric part. We obviously should wait and see what they finally decided about the engine combinations.
