2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, the brand new, revised version of the popular off roader is officially on its way. And thankfully we won’t have to wait that much longer to get the first glimpse at one of these, because Jeep is getting ready to debut the new model at the upcoming 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The official images of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL have just been released and by the looks of it, Jeep is sticking with the classic Wrangler design, only adding some subtle changes and upgrades. For example, the front grille is now just a bit more rounded than on the previous model. This is possibly due to the new pedestrian crash safety standards that were implemented recently. Moreover, the turn signals have been moved up to the front side of the fenders. You will be able to get the new Wrangler in both two- and four-door variants, as well as soft- and hard-top configurations. You will also still be able to take off the doors off, which has become the Wranglers trademark.
The real changes can be found on the inside of the vehicle, where the newest model will offer a wide- ranging list of high-tech features like the UConnect infotainment system, the dual-zone climate control, as well as an optional heated steering wheel. The 2018 Jeep Wrangel JL will reportedly keep its dashboard-mounted window switches, a clear hint at the return of removable doors. Speaking of the dashboard, for the new model year Jeep designers have made it shallow and upright, same as the previous models, but this time some parts of the dash will be color-matched to the exterior paint job.
Engine and Powertrain
When it comes to the engine, the new Wrangler will be powered by a range of engines, one of which will be the 3.6L 6-cylinder V6 gasoline engine that will be paired with a brand-new 8 speed automatic transmission. The EPA has recently come out with the MPG rating for the new model and the 8 speed automatic version’s numbers come up to 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The 6-speed automatic variant is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will reportedly be able to tow 3500 lbs, no matter the engine under its hood. This new gereration of the Wrangler will also have between 1075 and 1310 lbs of payload capacity, which will vary depending of the models’ specifications.
2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Release Date and Price
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL will be heading into production next month, which means that we won’t actually be able to get our hands on of these until the second half of 2019. As for the pricing, all we know is that the 2018 Wrangler Unlimited model will be starting at $30,445, which is actually about $2500 more than last years JK Unlimited. The pricing for other model variants is yet to be announced.
