2018 Buick Regal represents the continuing with production of luxury models closest to Audi A4, but this time more elegant and expensive, so they can be closer to high car class. It is made of three different models – rear wheel drive BMW model made by Cadillac, an exterior design taken from Opel Insignia (so it looks like almost the same as that car) and all made on the famous E2XX platform used on Chevrolet Malibu. However, this is not really a new model, as the last one has been popular among middle class of the buyers, but now it should be as much elegant and luxury as the cars from highest class.
You will notice that 2018 Buick Regal has the same sharp rear end with simple but attractive rhomboidal mesh grille, thin lights with LED circle as daily light and thin air intake below it rounded with chrome. Two air intakes at the end of the bumper also have chromatic details and small decoration. The rear end is much more rounded than on last models, which provides interesting elegant look on an otherwise luxury model. The thin spoiler has decorated the top of the truck door, with wide rear lights, spread on the side of the rear bumper, two exhausts and plastic protection on the bottom. Glasses are rounded with chrome which provides a classy look to the car.
It seems that 2018 Buick Regal gets small 1.5-liter inline-four turbocharged petrol engine with only 163 horsepower of strength. However, in order to keep the price below the magical number of $30,000, which is some kind of the limit for luxury but favorable cars, they kept small engine which still offers acceptable strength. On the order hand, there will be offered a stronger version, 2.0-liter with between 260 and 300 horsepower of strength and all-wheel driving option. It should get the same torque-vectoring rear differential option as on Ford Focus. That is quite opposite of the last Buick made in 2015, which had simply manual transmission.
2018 Buick Regal Competition and Price
With all mentioned features, 2018 Buick Regal should be the main competitor to Volkswagen Arteon, Ford Fusion Sport, Acura TLX, Volvo S60, Lincoln MKZ and, of course, Audi A4, aiming to reach the level of luxury as these popular cars. Even though manufacturer wants to replace Opel Insignia, there are chances that European buyers will not accept this not very popular brand. However, there are high chances that manufacturer will offer something similar to this car on US market as a version of Subaru Outback, but we will see how that will go with this competition. As we said, the price should stay below $30,000.
