Acura is giving us a first look at their upcoming 2018 Acura TLX, few weeks ahead of its official debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show. The teaser images reveal a brand-new design, that when coupled with the latest tech innovations will offer buyers something other than a small sedan with a side of luxury, which is the formula Acura has been heavily relying on in the recent years.
The new 2018 Acura TLX looks to be incorporating the aggressive stylings of the Precision concept that was showcased at last year’s Detroit auto show. Features that bear the most resemblance to this concept are the headlights, grille and the Acura logo. Acura has already incorporated these new “Precision” features into their MDX model in a similar way. Perhaps, the most interesting feature on the new TLX is the diamond pentagon grille that will replace the somewhat polarizing, old shied grille.
As for those new high-tech features that we mentioned, Acura hasn’t given any details as to what those enhancements might be. However, we expect to see a new and improved infotainment system, as well as some new driver assist features.

Engine and Powertrain
The powertrain details will become known by Aplil 11th, Until then we can only speculate. However, Acura’s current offerings, the 2.4-liter inline-4 cylinder capable of delivering up to 206 horsepower, and the 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine, could very well make their way under the 2018 TLX’s hood. We expect the new model to retain the standard front wheel drive, as well as the choice between the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission for the inline-4 and the 9-speed automatic for the V6. Moreover, the V6 comes with an optional all-wheel drive system, and we expect that to stay the same.
2018 Acura TLX Release Date and Price
The 2018 Acura TLX will make its grand debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show, but Acura is planning to reveal the new TLX a day ahead, on April 11th, when all the details and specs will be announced. Likewise, the pricing is yet to be revealed, but we don’t expect them to greatly diverge from the outgoing model’s starting price of $32,820.
