The 2017 Infiniti QX80 Monograph Concept made its debut earlier this month at the 2017 New York Auto Show where it wowed the crowds with its flagship design and tech. These are the features that we’ll be seeing for years to come because Infinity calls the 2017 QX80 Monograph Concept “an exterior design study” for the new QX80, but they also don’t rule out the possibility of this new concept being the main inspiration for other SUVs the company has in the pipeline.
This new revolutionary design looks like a chunkier and more muscular take on the QX Sport Inspiration concept’s look that first premiered at last year’s Beijing auto show. This sturdy design language later appeared in the QX50 concept as well, which debuted at the Detroit auto show earlier this year. But what makes the Monograph concept stand out from the rest is its mammoth size. With over five meters in length and over two meters in width and height and 24 inch wheels to boot, this new concept is a sight to behold.

Some of the key design elements for the 2017 Infiniti QX80 Monograph Concept include the new Human Eye headlights, a lower body styling, and a brand-new grille design that will surely show up in all the future Infiniti SUVs. However, some of the features like the slim mirrors, gigantic wheels, and shaved door handles don’t seem likely to make their way into production. The new 2017 Infinity Monograph Concept also comes with a floating roof design which would be hard to pass up on if we consider today’s design trends in the SUV class. But with the blacked-out windshield pillars it would be a bold design direction for Infinity to move in. One we’ll just have to wait and see if they are willing to take.
Engine and Powertrain
Given that we are dealing with an “exterior design study”, no official details about the engine or the powertrain have been give out at the New York Auto Show showcase. The outgoing Infiniti QX80 has a 5.6-liter V-8 engine under its hood, the same engine that is powering the new Nissan Titan XD. So, since this V-8 is seeing a bit of a resurgence it wouldn’t be out of the question for the new QX80 to be powered by it as well.
2017 Infiniti QX80 Monograph Concept Release Date and Price
The 2017 Infiniti QX80 Monograph Concept will morph into the brand-new QX80, which is due for a refresh in the next year or two. But, there is very little actual information on the new QX80 and we’ll just have to wait it out and see what Infiniti has in store. We do know that the outgoing QX80 currently starts at $64.845, a figure we don’t expect to significantly change with the new generation.
